About
The Person Behind the Practice
Darren started Halprin Consulting after years deep in the trenches of Apple, Windows, and Unix systems, somewhere between fixing what shouldn't be broken and explaining why it broke anyway. Along the way he's worn the hats of network engineer, cybersecurity specialist, systems integrator, and reluctant therapist for technology-induced stress.
He has a knack for spotting the real issue hiding behind the obvious one: reading between the logs, cutting through vendor noise, and delivering solutions that actually work in the real world, not just in documentation. Whether it's untangling Microsoft 365 quirks, locking down a network, or bringing order to chaos, Darren's approach is equal parts precision and pragmatism.
Outside of work, Darren swaps command lines for chisels, getting stuck into woodworking projects, keeping the house (mostly) in one piece, and managing the high-energy logistics of life with 14-year-old twins. He's equally at home at a live gig or theatre show, and has a well-established appreciation for good food and great music. He follows the AFL with a firm allegiance to the Carlton Football Club, and still finds time to tinker with AI and automation projects because apparently solving problems all day just isn't quite enough.

"Darren has been saving my businesses from all sorts of disaster for more than 25 years. His professional, knowledgeable and efficient approach in setting us up with servers, connectivity issues and back up solutions, have saved our bacon many times over. His proactive approach in updating our equipment and software over time has proved to be invaluable. We went from disaster to delight in seconds. Just knowing Darren is there to answer any questions, offer advice, or rock up in person when we are in need, is a 5 star service which is rare. I could not recommend him more highly."
